Join the Living-in-Space Workshop: A Free Global Event Exploring Humanity's Future Beyond Earth

ree

The future of humanity extends beyond our home planet, and on November 13th, space enthusiasts worldwide will have a unique opportunity to explore what living in space truly means. The Living-in-Space Initiative, a 14-member alliance of premier space organizations, is hosting a free four-hour workshop featuring presentations from world-leading experts on the technological, medical, economic, and safety challenges of space habitation.

A Global Alliance for Space Settlement

The Living-in-Space Initiative represents an unprecedented collaboration among some of the most influential organizations in the space sector. This growing alliance includes the Alliance for Collaboration in the Exploration of Space (ACES Worldwide), Space Renaissance International (SRI), the National Space Society (NSS), the Moon Village Association, the International Moonbase Alliance, The Space Development Foundation Inc., The Mars Society, Life to and Beyond, For All Moonkind, the Lifeboat Foundation, Space and Satellite Professionals International, the Alternatively Planetary Futures Institute, and Innova Space.

Together, these organizations are working to advance humanity's understanding of what it will take to establish permanent human presence beyond Earth—from the Moon and Mars to orbital habitats and deep space missions.

World-Class Experts, Cutting-Edge Topics

The November 13th workshop brings together an exceptional lineup of speakers who will address the most pressing challenges and exciting opportunities in space settlement:

Terraforming and Planetary Protection

James Green, former chief scientist of NASA, and Dr. Joseph Pelton, Dean Emeritus of the International Space University, will present groundbreaking work on designing a magnetic space shielding system for terraforming Mars. This innovative approach could be key to making the Red Planet habitable for future generations.

Dr. Luigina Feretti, Research Director of the National Institute of Astrophysics of Italy, will tackle one of space exploration's greatest challenges: radiation protection for astronauts during long-duration missions.

Medical Advances and Human Health

Space medicine is advancing rapidly, and attendees will hear from leading experts in the field. Professor Thais Russomano, PhD of InnovaSpace UK and Sibsankar Palit of Life To and Beyond Foundation will present the latest advances in space medical research. Dr. Susan Jewell will explore precision space health and the role of artificial intelligence in maintaining astronaut wellness.

Habitat Design and Life Support

Dr. Werner Grandl of SRI will present innovative space habitat designs incorporating artificial gravity—a critical component for long-term human health in space. These designs could inform the construction of future space stations, lunar bases, and interplanetary vessels.

Revolutionary Propulsion Systems

Eric Dahlstrom of SpaceBase New Zealand and Vatsala Khenawat of Google will discuss advances in nuclear fusion rocket systems for deep space missions. This technology could dramatically reduce travel times to Mars and beyond, making interplanetary exploration more feasible.

Space Infrastructure and Transportation

Dr. Peter Swan, Chief Architect of the International Space Elevator Consortium, will present on modern-day space elevators as permanent space transportation infrastructure. This revolutionary concept could fundamentally transform how we access space, making it more affordable and sustainable.

Economics and Philosophy

Armen Papazian will address the monetization of space, exploring how economic models can support sustainable space development. Professor Bernard Foing, President of SRI, will present on "Space for All," discussing how to ensure equitable access to space resources and opportunities. Frank White, noted author, will speak on "Robots and Rockets: Keys to the Future of Space," examining the technological foundations of our spacefaring future.
